Two Arrested for Robbing and Dragging Man with Car at Gas Station
CHICAGO — In a disturbing incident on October 7, Davell Dixon-Matthew, 30, and Shayna Sergerson, 32, were arrested for allegedly robbing and dragging a man with their car at a gas station on the Northwest Side of Chicago.
The robbery took place at Mobil, located at 5949 West Higgins in Jefferson Park. The victim, a 30-year-old man from Milwaukee, was reportedly battered by Dixon-Matthew and Sergerson, who then stole his wallet around 4:04 a.m. The perpetrators then fled the scene in their getaway car, with Sergerson driving away as the victim clung to the side of the vehicle, resulting in multiple injuries including blunt trauma to his head and body.
Upon their arrest, it was noted that Dixon-Matthew was wearing the same winter cap as the male robber seen in surveillance footage of the crime. Both individuals have been charged with robbery and aggravated battery, with Sergerson facing an additional charge of failure to report an accident involving injury.
During a court hearing, Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman granted petitions to keep Dixon-Matthew and Sergerson in jail pending trial. Court records also revealed that Dixon-Matthews had previously been arrested on charges of possessing a stolen motor vehicle in Norridge on July 17, where he was released without appearing before a judge. His first court date in that case was scheduled for October 8, the day after the gas station robbery.
