PV Sindhu’s impressive performance at the Denmark Open has kept India’s hopes alive for a title after a hard-fought victory in the pre-quarterfinals. Facing off against world No. 7, China’s Han Yue, Sindhu managed to secure a thrilling win over three games, making her the sole Indian player left in the competition in Odense.

This victory comes as a significant moment for Sindhu, as she has been struggling with her form in recent years. The 29-year-old shuttler has faced challenges and setbacks, including returning empty-handed from the Paris Olympics. After taking a short break from the sport, Sindhu made a comeback at the Indonesia Open last week but was eliminated in the first round.

However, her fortunes changed at the Denmark Open, where she advanced to the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Pai Yu Po in the first round due to a knee injury retirement. Going up against Han Yue, Sindhu was considered the underdog, especially after losing the first game 21-18. But displaying her characteristic resilience and determination, she fought back to claim victory with scores of 18-21, 21-12, 21-16.

Looking ahead, Sindhu is expected to face Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the quarterfinals of the BWF Denmark Open. The Indonesian player has had a successful year, winning bronze at the Paris Olympics. Tunjung is set to compete against Mia Blichfeldt in the Round-of-16, with a potential matchup against Sindhu awaiting if she emerges victorious.

Sindhu’s performance at the Denmark Open has reignited hopes of a successful return to form for the Indian shuttler. With her impressive display against Han Yue and a challenging matchup against Tunjung on the horizon, fans can expect an exciting continuation of Sindhu’s journey in the tournament.
