A recent poll has revealed shocking views from Democrats regarding the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. More than a quarter of Democrats surveyed expressed that America would be better off if Trump had been killed during the attempt.

The poll of 1,000 registered voters was conducted following the incident where a man armed with an assault-style rifle was found hiding near Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club while the former president was playing.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, was apprehended after he was spotted pointing his rifle towards the golf course. A Secret Service agent fired at Routh, leading to his arrest after attempting to flee the scene.

The poll, conducted by Scott Rasmussen’s Napolitan News Institute, asked respondents if America would be better off if Trump had been killed during the incident. Shockingly, 17% of all Americans and 28% of Democrats answered “yes” to this question.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, the poll also found that a majority of Democrats do not believe Trump’s security detail should be increased, with 51% expressing this view.

It is concerning that a significant portion of Democrats hold such extreme views, with Rasmussen stating, “It is hard to imagine a greater threat to democracy than expressing a desire to have your political opponent murdered.”

These shocking revelations come in the wake of a previous assassination attempt on Trump in July, where he was grazed by a bullet at a campaign rally in Butler, PA.

Overall, the poll highlights the deep political divisions within the country and the concerning attitudes towards violence against political figures.
