A union worker in Wisconsin described a lunch provided by a group campaigning for Kamala Harris as “insulting” and possibly prepared by “prison labor” during their 2024 pitch for the vice president last month, as reported by The Post.

The lackluster meal included a “single-slice-of-ham sandwich” on “stale” store-brand bread, a bag of chips, and a “tiny apple,” which was accompanied by a speech criticizing President-elect Donald Trump that workers at a Microsoft data center construction site in Racine County had to endure on Oct. 21.

Although the union worker mentioned that they weren’t expecting a lavish meal, they found the lunch and campaign pitch to be disrespectful. The worker, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed disappointment in the choice of lunch and the uninspiring speech delivered during the event.

The union member couldn’t recall the specific group behind the pitch but suspected it was an out-of-state ironworkers union likely funded by the Harris campaign.

During the lunch event, a man spoke to the 400 workers in the break area, informing them that they had to listen to the pitch because lunch was provided. The worker recounted this experience to Milwaukee radio show host Dan O’Donnell, mentioning that the pitch mainly focused on criticizing Trump for mistreating union workers at his Atlantic City casino.

According to the union worker, a colleague who worked at Racine County Correctional witnessed inmates preparing the same lunches seen at the event. The worker described the entire situation as both ironic and pathetic.

When questioned about the disparity between the brown bag lunch and Harris’ extravagant campaign events with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga, the union member expressed disappointment in the campaign’s focus on aesthetics rather than connecting with working-class voters.

He suggested that a higher quality lunch could have been a good starting point for the campaign. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the Harris campaign did not provide a response to The Post’s inquiry.

Despite the efforts, Trump won Wisconsin by a narrow margin and eventually secured victory in all swing states during the historic Election Day.
