The Taieri Tuataras showcased their resilience after last year’s disappointment by finishing the season unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over the University Whales in the Otago premier men’s club final.

The Whales started strong, with Jakob Bell-Kake missing a close-range opportunity early on. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t capitalize on their chances. The Tuataras took the lead in the second quarter, with a deflected goal off a drag-flick by Jordan Ward.

Manu Henderson extended the lead just before halftime, putting the Tuataras in a commanding position. Oliver Battrick added another goal, further solidifying their lead.

The Whales managed to pull one back with a goal from Jean-Luc Peyroux, but the Tuataras held their ground. Despite a late push from the Whales, the Tuataras emerged victorious, with Patrick Ward and Chris Hill standing out for their performances.

Player-coach Jordan Ward celebrated his 150th game by leading the Tuataras to victory, ending the season on a high note.
