A Machete-Wielding Suspect Strikes Again in Bronx Subway Attack
Runadieo Jordan, 54, allegedly attacked another straphanger on a Bronx subway over the weekend, wielding a machete in a violent assault. This incident comes around two years after he was accused of stabbing another victim in a hate crime on public transit, according to police reports.
The attack took place on a northbound 2 train at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, leaving the 31-year-old victim with injuries to the head and arm. Jordan and the victim had engaged in an argument after the suspect approached him for reasons that remain unclear as the train arrived at the Allerton Avenue subway station.
Jordan allegedly brandished the machete and repeatedly slashed the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was later taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.
This is not the first time Jordan has been involved in a serious subway crime. In June 2022, he was accused of stabbing a man in a Bronx train car in what was described as an anti-gay hate crime. During that incident, Jordan reportedly used homophobic slurs towards the victim on the first day of Pride Month.
Following the 2022 assault, Jordan was arrested on charges of assault as a hate crime, criminal possession of a weapon, and aggravated harassment as a hate crime. He was also found with suspected heroin in Manhattan.
It remains unclear how the 2022 case was resolved, as the Bronx District Attorney’s office did not respond to inquiries. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the recent subway attack to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.
