Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has entered a guilty plea in Los Angeles to avoid a trial on nine federal tax charges, including three felonies and six misdemeanors.

The charges involve failing to file and pay $1.4 million in taxes, filing falsely, and claiming fraudulent business deductions.

The House Oversight Committee uncovered that the Biden family and associates received over $20 million from overseas, with funds coming from entities in China and Russia. The indictment alleges that Hunter Biden used this money for illicit activities such as drugs and prostitution, while neglecting to pay taxes.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty under an Alford plea, maintaining his innocence while acknowledging that the prosecution has enough evidence to find him guilty. This plea allows him to avoid a public trial that could have exposed details of his alleged tax fraud.

Prior to this case, Hunter Biden was investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission for securities fraud and convicted of felony gun charges for lying about drug use on a gun purchase form. He is scheduled for sentencing on the gun charges, facing a possible 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines.
