The incident that occurred on Thanksgiving in the Bronx involving a car theft with a 7-year-old boy inside has led to the arrest of the suspect, Mohamed Sakho. Sakho is facing multiple charges, including car theft, kidnapping, robbery, unlawful imprisonment, and abandonment of a child.

The harrowing ordeal began when the child’s father parked his Acura RDX on Mac Donough Place in the Country Club section of the Bronx and went inside his home with his 2-year-old child. In a matter of moments, a stranger got into the car and drove off with the 7-year-old still inside, leaving the father in shock and panic.

Fortunately, the police were able to track the stolen car using the Acura app on the child’s mom’s phone. They received a tip about an accident involving a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Acura. A witness found the boy standing outside the car, visibly upset and crying, and immediately contacted the authorities.

Sakho, the 22-year-old suspect, was apprehended the following day for an unrelated robbery incident. He allegedly forcefully took a bag from a 42-year-old man near 250 Baychester Ave. This was not Sakho’s first run-in with the law, as he had a prior arrest for criminal possession of a loaded weapon in April.

As the investigation continues, Sakho is awaiting arraignment to face the charges brought against him. The family is grateful that their son was safely recovered and are seeking justice for the traumatic experience they endured.
