Oppo has recently unveiled its latest flagship phones, the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, at a much-anticipated launch event in China. These new models come with significant upgrades in design, display, performance, and cameras, solidifying their position as top contenders for the best phones of 2024. Let’s delve into the release date, pricing, and specifications of the Oppo Find X8 series.

### When will the Oppo Find X8 be released?

The Oppo Find X8 series was officially announced in China on October 24, 2024, with pre-orders commencing immediately for the domestic market. Shipments within China are scheduled to start on October 30, 2024. While a global release is on the horizon, specific dates for international markets have yet to be confirmed. Oppo has assured Tech Advisor that the series will be “coming soon to global markets.”

The Chinese lineup comprises the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, with no official confirmation regarding an ‘Ultra’ variant, although it is anticipated to be launched in Q1 2025. Unlike the previous Find X7 lineup, which included standard and Ultra versions, Oppo seems to be keeping the Ultra model under wraps for now, possibly for a later launch.

### How much will the Oppo Find X8 cost?

The Oppo Find X8 is available in four stunning colors: Starfield Black, Floating Light White, Chasing Wind Blue, and Bubble Pink. The base model, equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, starts at CNY 4,199 (approximately £485/$590). For those seeking more storage, the high-end version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at CNY 4,999 (around £575/$700).

On the other hand, the Oppo Find X8 Pro comes in Hoshino Black, Cloud White, and Sky Blue color options. Prices start at CNY 5,299 (about £615/$745) for the 12GB RAM/256GB model, reaching up to CNY 6,799 (approximately £790/$955) for the 16GB RAM/1TB model, which includes satellite communication capabilities.

While the Find X7 series was not globally available, the Find X7 Ultra was priced at CNY 5,999 in China (roughly £800/$1000), providing a reference point for estimating the cost of the upcoming Find X8 Ultra.

### What specs and features will the Oppo Find X8 have?

#### Design
Oppo has introduced a refined and compact design for the Find X8 series. Both the standard and Pro models feature Oppo’s new ‘Cosmos Ring’ camera island, a visually appealing feature that is smaller than previous models but packed with powerful hardware. The design is sleek, with clean lines and a slightly curved back for comfortable handling. The color palette of the Find X8 includes sophisticated shades like Starfield Black and the vibrant Bubble Pink.

The Pro model stands out with a larger body that accommodates a more advanced periscope lens and includes a ‘Quick Button’ for convenient camera control. Additionally, both models have an IP69 rating, ensuring high resistance to water and dust.

#### Display
The display on the Oppo Find X8 is a key highlight of the device. The Find X8 features a 6.59-inch flat LTPO OLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling and enhanced responsiveness. The display adjusts the refresh rate based on usage to conserve battery life.

On the other hand, the Find X8 Pro boasts a larger 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a micro-quad-curved design, combining a mostly flat panel with subtle curvature on all four edges. Both displays offer up to 1,600 nits peak brightness for standard use and an impressive 4,500 nits peak brightness for HDR content, making them among the brightest screens in the market.

Both models feature an optical fingerprint scanner for seamless unlocking and a 32MP front-facing camera embedded in the screen.

#### Performance
The Oppo Find X8 series marks a significant performance upgrade as the first Oppo devices to feature the Dimensity 9400 chipset. This powerful processor, coupled with an advanced cooling system, promises a smooth experience for everyday tasks and high-performance applications. The cooling system includes a graphite layer, a vapour chamber, and thermal conductive gel for efficient heat management during prolonged usage.

Leaked Geekbench test results reveal impressive performance scores for the Dimensity 9400 chipset, with high single-core and multi-core performance. The chip, built on TSMC’s 3nm N3E process, features a big-core structure with various Cortex cores for enhanced performance.

#### Cameras
The Oppo Find X8 series is equipped with an advanced camera system catering to both casual users and photography enthusiasts. The Find X8 model sports a main camera with a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor, an ultrawide camera with a 50MP ISOCELL JN5 sensor, and a telephoto camera with a 3x periscope lens.

In comparison, the Find X8 Pro retains the ultrawide and 3x telephoto cameras but upgrades the main camera to a 50MP LYT-808 sensor for improved detail and low-light performance. The Pro model also introduces a secondary periscope camera with a 6x optical zoom capability.

Oppo’s HyperTone image engine combines RAW frames for enhanced image quality, while features like Hasselblad Portrait Mode and LivePhoto add depth to photography. The Pro model includes a ‘Quick Button’ for camera control convenience.

#### Battery & Charging
The Find X8 is powered by a 5630mAh battery, while the Pro model boasts a larger 5910mAh cell for extended battery life. Both models support 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging for quick and convenient power replenishment.

#### Software
The Oppo Find X8 series runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 14, with an update to Android 15 expected by the time of its European release. ColorOS 15 focuses on enhancing user experience with smart features like optimized battery management, personalized app suggestions, and advanced privacy settings. The integration of AI capabilities and a new system theme ensures a visually appealing and functional user interface.

In conclusion, the Oppo Find X8 series offers a comprehensive package of design, performance, camera capabilities, and software features, making them standout contenders in the smartphone market. Stay tuned for further updates on the global release of the Oppo Find X8 series.
