Elle Macpherson, the iconic supermodel, has recently made headlines for both her successful real estate deal and her controversial use of holistic treatments during a secret battle with breast cancer. Despite facing backlash for her health choices, Macpherson managed to secure a hefty profit of $10.5 million on the sale of her waterfront mansion in South Florida.
The stunning six-bedroom, seven-bath, 8,300-square-foot property is located in Journey’s End, an exclusive gated community in Coral Gables. After facing challenges in finding a buyer and dropping the price twice, Macpherson ultimately sold the home for $18.6 million, a whopping $10.5 million more than what she originally paid for it. According to the Daily Mail, Macpherson purchased the Normandy-inspired estate for $8.1 million in 2018 and first listed it for sale in 2022.
In a previous interview with Architectural Digest, Macpherson expressed her initial vision for the home, stating that she wanted it to feel effortless, eclectic, and fun without pretension. The property, filled with a collection of artworks, was meticulously designed to cater to the needs of Macpherson and her two sons.
Interior designer Brian Sawyer described the process of creating a look that reflected the family’s history and preferences, combining elements of London, French heritage, and Australian irreverence. However, with her sons no longer living at home, Macpherson reportedly felt it was time to part ways with the property.
In the midst of her real estate success, Macpherson also faced criticism for her decision to pursue holistic treatments for breast cancer instead of traditional medical interventions. In her memoir, Elle: Life, Lessons, and Learning to Trust Yourself, she revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 but chose to forgo recommended treatments in favor of naturopathic, osteopathic, and chiropractic care.
Australian TV host Kerri-Anne Kennerley, herself a breast cancer survivor, voiced concerns about Macpherson’s choices, warning that they could have dangerous consequences for others facing similar challenges. Despite the criticism, Macpherson defended her decision, emphasizing that she sought a variety of medical advice and was now in remission.
As Macpherson navigates both her real estate success and the controversy surrounding her health choices, she remains steadfast in sharing her experience while acknowledging that her decisions may not be suitable for everyone.
