Unprovoked Subway Attack: Woman Struck in Head with Golf Club

In a shocking and unprovoked attack, a man assaulted a 66-year-old woman in the subway system by striking her in the head with what appeared to be a golf club. The incident took place at the Cortlandt Street R/W subway station in the Financial District around 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

The victim was standing near the turnstiles when the masked assailant viciously hit her with the golf club, causing a gash on the left side of her head. The attacker then fled the scene, taking the weapon with him.

The attack was completely unprovoked, with no exchange of words between the victim and the perpetrator. The injured woman was taken to New York Downtown Hospital where she is in stable condition.

Despite the release of video footage by the NYPD, no arrests have been made in connection with the assault. Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that may help identify the suspect.
