An Aurora dentist accused of poisoning his wife to death is now under suspicion for planning the murder of an Aurora police detective investigating the case, as confirmed by a police spokesperson on Wednesday.
James Craig, 46, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Angela Craig, 43, who passed away on March 18, 2023, from cyanide and tetrahydrozoline poisoning.
Investigators claim that James Craig purchased arsenic and cyanide before his wife’s death, researched how to poison someone online, was involved in an extramarital affair, and was facing financial difficulties.
Recently, prosecutors sought to add charges of solicitation to commit murder and perjury against James Craig, as reported by 9News. The target of the murder plot was an Aurora police detective investigating Angela Craig’s death, with James Craig allegedly trying to persuade another inmate to carry out the killing.
Following these developments, James Craig’s defense attorney withdrew from the case due to ethical concerns, leading to a postponement of the trial scheduled for this month. James Craig is expected back in court on Dec. 16 with a new attorney.
Aside from the murder charges, James Craig is also accused of tampering with evidence and attempting to cover up evidence with the help of two individuals, including his daughter. Police claim he used his workplace computer to search for information on poison before his wife’s death.
The search history on the communal computer included queries about lethal doses of arsenic, undetectable poisons, and deadly plants.
