A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder following the tragic death of 60-year-old Maxwell Connor in Thames earlier this week.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kristine Clarke announced that the man was arrested in connection to an incident at a residence on Rolleston St that is believed to be linked to Connor’s passing.

Authorities were alerted to a disturbance at the location on Monday afternoon, where they discovered Mr. Connor with moderate injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, his condition deteriorated, leading to his unfortunate demise.

The 28-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Kaitaia District Court on Thursday to face the murder charge.

The police expressed their condolences to Connor’s family and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Clarke emphasized the importance of contacting the authorities if anyone witnessed the altercation on Rolleston St around 3:40 pm on Monday.
