ABC’s hit medical sitcom “Scrubs” made a triumphant return after 16 years, drawing in a massive audience for its reboot premiere. The first episode garnered an impressive 11.4 million viewers in the five days following its debut, marking a successful comeback for the beloved show.

The viewership total includes both traditional broadcast ratings measured by Nielsen and streaming data from platforms like Hulu, making it ABC’s most-streamed comedy episode and series premiere in over a year. The previous record was held by the series “Shifting Gears,” which premiered in 2025 starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings.

“Scrubs” also dominated in the key demographic of adults aged 18-49, becoming the most-watched comedy since the launch of “Shifting Gears” and a special crossover episode between “Abbott Elementary” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” The show’s success on both broadcast and digital platforms solidifies its place as a fan favorite.

Created by Bill Lawrence, “Scrubs” originally aired on NBC in 2001 before moving to ABC for its final two seasons. The reboot brings back fan-favorite characters JD (Zach Braff) and Turk (Donald Faison) as they navigate the changes in medicine and intern life at Sacred Heart Hospital. The show promises laughter, heart, and surprises as old and new characters come together in the familiar setting.

Returning cast members include Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley, with Lawrence serving as executive producer alongside Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Braff, Faison, Chalke, and showrunner Aseem Batra are also involved in the production, ensuring that the spirit of the original series is preserved in the reboot. With 20th Television as the studio behind the show, “Scrubs” continues to capture the hearts of viewers old and new.
