A Centennial nursing home employee arrested for elder abuse
A Centennial nursing home employee was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of elder abuse, with a warrant out for a second employee’s arrest, according to authorities.
Patience Jackson, a certified nursing assistant at Orchard Park Health Care Center, was taken into custody on charges of criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk person, and complicity, as reported by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities also issued an arrest warrant for Zainab Namale, a licensed practical nurse at the same facility, in connection to the incident.
It was revealed that Jackson and Namale provided false information regarding how a 92-year-old resident at the nursing home sustained a broken leg, attempting to conceal the true cause of the injury, according to officials.
Staff members at Sky Ridge Medical Center contradicted the account given by Jackson and Namale in their report, stating that the victim’s two broken leg bones did not align with the details provided.
The initial report claimed that the elderly resident was discovered in her wheelchair, crying out in pain without anyone witnessing the fall or knowing the cause of the injury, the sheriff’s office disclosed.
Investigations determined that the 92-year-old’s broken leg, occurring on May 8, was the result of criminal negligence.
Jackson was taken to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and is being held on a $2,500 bond. A court date is pending.
