Tragedy struck a Halloween house party near Grand Junction on Friday night, as two individuals lost their lives in a fatal shooting, as reported by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Responding to numerous 911 calls regarding a shooting incident, deputies arrived at a residence on Cottonwood Lake Drive in Clifton at 11:50 p.m., an unincorporated community situated east of Grand Junction.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered two victims suffering from severe injuries and immediately initiated CPR. Despite their efforts, both victims succumbed to their wounds at the hospital approximately an hour later.

Authorities suspect that a confrontation or altercation at the party led to the fatal shooting, prompting the sheriff’s office to launch an investigation into the incident as a double homicide.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased victims at a later time.

Individuals possessing any information related to the shooting are urged to contact non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707, citing Mesa County Sheriff’s Office case number 25-41695.
