Two Men Grazed by Gunfire in Downtown Shooting
Two individuals were grazed by gunfire during an early Sunday morning incident in downtown Chicago, but they did not report the shooting until hours later. The victims, a 33-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, declined medical treatment and police assistance following the incident, as reported by Chicago police.
The shooting took place around 4:30 a.m. in the first block of West Kinzie in the River North neighborhood. The victims recounted the event to officers later in the day at the 5000 block of West Patterson Avenue. According to the victims, two unidentified men approached them on Kinzie Street and opened fire, causing graze wounds to the 33-year-old’s head and leg, and to the 37-year-old’s hand, leg, and head.
Despite their injuries, both men refused medical attention and opted not to file a report with the police. Area Three detectives have taken over the investigation into the incident.
This shooting marks the 36th and 37th incidents of gun violence on the Near North Side this year. Notably, this figure includes 18 individuals who were shot during a single drive-by shooting in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue earlier this month.
