Two Killed in Tragic Crash Near Empower Field in Denver
Authorities confirmed that two individuals lost their lives in a devastating accident near Empower Field in Denver on Saturday night.
The Denver Police Department shared details about the incident on social media at 10:30 p.m. that same evening.
Initially, it was reported that two people on an electric scooter were involved in the crash near Federal Boulevard and 14th Avenue. However, it was later clarified that the victims were pedestrians in the area, as per the department’s update.
The collision, which occurred just south of Empower Field at Mile High and north of Lakewood Gulch, resulted in the closure of Federal Boulevard between 14th Avenue and West Holden Place for several hours on Saturday night.
Law enforcement confirmed that the driver remained at the scene following the tragic incident.
Interestingly, a three-car crash took place at the same intersection the previous Tuesday, leading to two individuals being hospitalized. During that incident, one person was trapped in their vehicle and had to be rescued by the Denver Fire Department.
Earlier in January, another pedestrian lost their life in a hit-and-run just north of the location where Saturday’s crash occurred, specifically at West Colfax Avenue and Federal Boulevard.
