Four individuals are now facing federal charges due to a recent confrontation between federal law enforcement agents and activists at an immigration detention center in Broadview, a suburb of Chicago.
According to newly filed criminal complaints from agents with the FBI, ATF, and Homeland Security Investigations, the scene unfolded chaotically as federal officers attempted to disperse protesters who had gathered outside the facility located at 1930 Beach Street. Authorities have indicated that two of those apprehended, both of whom possess firearms licenses, were carrying handguns at the time of their arrests.
In unsettling incidents captured in the complaints, 42-year-old Paul Ivery reportedly approached Border Patrol agents and issued a violent threat, allegedly stating, “I’ll f****** kill you right now,” challenging agents to take action following his threat.
The situation escalated when Ivery jumped onto an occupied vehicle in the roadway and later engaged in a physical struggle with officers as they attempted to apprehend him. Body-worn camera footage is claimed to show Ivery resisting arrest despite repeated orders from officers to “give us your hands.”

A video posted to Twitter by Amanda Moore shows agents arresting a man who identifies himself as Paul Ivery while other agents fire less-lethal rounds into the ground to drive back onlookers.
After his arrest, Ivery reportedly expressed his reason for attending the protest, citing his disappointment with how ICE agents had treated the Broadview Police Department and veterans.
Additionally, two married protesters, Ray Collins and Jocelyne Robledo, were also apprehended for allegedly confronting law enforcement as they tried to manage the crowd. Robledo reportedly resisted police directions, struck an officer, and was discovered to be carrying a loaded GForce 9mm pistol at her waist. During this altercation, Collins allegedly charged towards the officers, demanding they leave his wife alone, resulting in injuries to an ATF agent’s thumb during the scuffle. Both individuals had valid permits for their firearms and consequently, do not face charges related to their weapons.
Authorities also described the actions of Hubert Mazur, 39, who allegedly disregarded commands to retreat, grabbing a Border Patrol agent and engaging in a struggle that ended with both men on the ground before Mazur was taken into custody.
All four individuals are charged with forcibly assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal officers.
