A well-known multi-time WWE Champion has recently discussed their retirement plans, indicating potential adjustments due to recent developments.
At 52 years old, Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, is in the latter stages of his wrestling career. However, he remains active on the AEW roster and is currently one half of the world tag team champions with his long-time partner, Christian Cage.
In a recent interview with SHAK Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Famer talked about the timeline for his career. He acknowledged that it has been altered due to a severe injury two years ago and commitments to Hollywood projects.
“In terms of the timeline, yeah, that’s shifted and had to change. You know, I broke my leg; that put me out for a bit. And then it’s filming ‘The Beekeeper,’ filming ‘Percy Jackson,'” he began.
Copeland also indicated that he has many matches in AEW that he still wants to participate in, making it difficult to set a definitive timeline for his retirement. He listed both tag teams and singles competitors he hopes to face, showcasing a wide array of talent he is eager to work with.
“So, in terms of the timeline, I don’t know. But I know about 95% of the matches that I want to have are still out there to have, which is pretty cool. You know, FTR was on there, the Young Bucks are on there. There’s a bunch of teams on there. And then there’s all the singles matches that I haven’t got to dip into yet, between Swerve and Ospreay, and Fletcher â I mean, Joe, Hangman. I mean, there’s just so much to work with, you know, and have fun,” [H/T WrestlingInc.]
Adam Copeland discussed a viral moment with Ricky Saints before his WWE departure
In 2023, Adam Copeland and Ricky Saints engaged in a brief verbal exchange during an AEW Collision segment. This interaction involved Copeland and Bryan Danielson against Ricky and Christian Cage.
At that time, the two WWE legends were embroiled in a feud, with Bryan and Ricky facing off. During the segment, Saints took an unexpected shot at the Rated-R Superstar, prompting Copeland to respond in kind.
In the same interview, he reflected on the incident, acknowledging that they had gone slightly off-script but did not dwell on it afterward.
“We got out there. He started cutting a promo on me and I was like, âWell, Iâm not in an angle with him. Okay.â That was it. It was just like a thousand promos in the Attitude Era. By the next day itâs like, âOkay, now what do we got?â I donât care. Iâm sure Ricky doesnât. I donât care.â said the WWE Hall of Famer. [H/T- @WrestlePurists on X]
