Almost half of New Yorkers are concerned that crime and violence will worsen if Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor, according to a recent poll. The survey reveals a sense of impending “disaster” among voters.

Approximately 47% of respondents believe that crime rates will increase in New York City under Mamdani’s leadership, with 45% expressing fears of a rise in antisemitism, as per the J.L. Partners/Daily Mail poll.

In contrast, only 32% believe that the city will be safer if Mamdani is elected as mayor.

The most common term used to describe the potential outcome of a Mamdani mayoral term was “disaster,” according to the poll. James Keivom

Concerns about terrorism also surfaced in the poll, with 39% of respondents expecting an increase in the risk under Mamdani’s leadership.

When asked to describe what a city under Mamdani’s leadership would look like after four years, respondents commonly used words like “disaster,” “s–thole,” “hell,” and “chaos.”

Despite these apprehensions, Mamdani maintains a significant lead over ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race, according to various polls.

Recent polls show Mamdani ahead of Cuomo in the mayoral race, with a Quinnipiac University survey indicating a 10-point lead for Mamdani and an Emerson College/Pix11/The Hill poll showing a 25-point lead.

Additionally, a Marist Institute for Public Opinion poll gives Mamdani a 16-point lead over Cuomo.
