The highly anticipated series “It: Welcome to Derry” has quickly become a massive hit, attracting a staggering 5.7 million viewers in its first three days of release. This impressive viewership figure is a combination of Nielsen ratings from HBO’s linear channel and data from Warner Bros. Discovery regarding streams on HBO Max. The series has secured the third spot in terms of viewership for all series premieres on HBO Max since its launch, with only “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us” surpassing it in popularity.

Based on the world created by Stephen King in his 1986 novel “It,” the series serves as an origin story for the terrifying child-hunting clown monster, Pennywise. Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise, alongside a talented cast including Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, and many others.

The development of “It: Welcome to Derry” for television was a collaborative effort led by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs. The series boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including the Muschiettis, Fuchs, Skarsgård, and others. Fuchs also wrote the first episode and serves as co-showrunner with Brad Caleb Kane, while Andy Muschietti takes on the role of director for multiple episodes.

Fans of the original “It” films will be thrilled to dive deeper into the sinister world of Pennywise and the town of Derry. With its gripping storyline, talented cast, and strong production team, “It: Welcome to Derry” is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Be sure to catch this thrilling series on HBO and HBO Max.
