Leandro was found dead on July 2, 2023, from what was determined to be an accidental drug overdose. According to People, a DEA official stated that the suspects taken into custody in New York are being charged with death resulting from the sale of narcotics.
The 5 men were charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in death, as reported by NBC 4 New York.
A sixth person, a woman identified as Sofia H. Marks, had been arrested just weeks after the tragic death, facing accusations that she sold drugs to the young man.
At the time of the incident, Leandro was found by a friend who had not heard from him in a few days and was checking in on him.
His mother, Drena De Niro, confirmed the passing of her only son on Instagram with a heartfelt message expressing her deep love for him.
Leandro appeared in the 2018 film, “A Star is Born,” playing the son of Bradley Cooper’s character’s best friend. He also had a role in “Cabaret Maxime” in 2018.
