Federal authorities are currently offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in two assaults against federal officers and damage to government property, which occurred during events related to the increased immigration enforcement operation named “Midway Blitz” in Chicago.

On Monday afternoon, the Chicago divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced the reward, encouraging the public to assist by providing tips, photographs, or video evidence related to the incidents that took place on October 4 in Brighton Park.

The alert states that the first confrontation occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, when approximately ten vehicles attempted to corner U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit in the 3900 block of South Kedzie Avenue. This encounter culminated in a federal agent discharging their weapon at one of the drivers, who, along with another individual believed to be involved, is currently in custody.

The FBI has posted a closely cropped video of the altercation on its official website.

The second assault took place around noon on the same day, when a black Chevrolet Tahoe, registered in Illinois with the license plate EM 62829, repeatedly rammed a vehicle belonging to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the 3700 block of South Kedzie Avenue. The driver of the Tahoe fled the scene and is still at large.

Footage of this chase, which has often been misidentified as the incident involving the ICE vehicle shooting, was widely circulated on social media over the weekend:

Authorities have made it clear that the reward extends to anyone who aided or conspired in these assaults through funding, coordination, planning, or other methods.

“Attacking, resisting, or obstructing federal law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties is a federal crime,” the agencies stated in a united message.

The FBI and ATF emphasized that their investigations do not target individuals based solely on activities protected by the First Amendment, clarifying that their focus remains on violent actions targeting federal personnel.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by five residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were frustrated with the inaccuracies being shared at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.

Over the years, our coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side regions. Nevertheless, our mission remains unchanged: to deliver original public safety reporting that offers better context and more detailed information than what is typically provided by mainstream media outlets.
