SKOPJE, North Macedonia — A tragic incident unfolded in the eastern town of Kocani, North Macedonia, as a devastating fire engulfed a nightclub, resulting in the loss of 51 lives and leaving over 100 individuals injured, according to authorities.

The fire erupted during a concert at the Pulse nightclub, caused by pyrotechnics that ignited the roof. Disturbing videos from the scene showed panic and chaos as young patrons tried to flee the burning building.

Emergency services swiftly responded, transporting the wounded to medical facilities across the country, with many suffering from severe burns. Health Minister Arben Taravari confirmed that 118 individuals were hospitalized, with neighboring countries offering assistance in the wake of the tragedy.

As the nation mourned the devastating loss, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expressed condolences and vowed to support the affected families during this difficult time.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the nightclub’s safety measures and licensing, with one individual already arrested in connection with the incident. The European Union and neighboring countries extended their sympathies, highlighting the widespread impact of the tragedy.

Despite the grief and sorrow that has enveloped North Macedonia, the community has rallied together to provide support and comfort to those affected by the heartbreaking event.

While the investigation continues and the nation comes to terms with the tragic loss of life, the spirit of unity and solidarity shines through as North Macedonia navigates through this dark chapter in its history.
