Random Attack in Times Square Leaves 88-Year-Old Woman with Knocked-Out Teeth
An 88-year-old woman, Carly Marder, was walking near 35th Street and 7th Avenue in Times Square when a 30-year-old man randomly punched her in the face, knocking out her two front teeth, according to the NYPD. The incident left Marder on the ground, requiring medical attention for her injuries.
Marder was taken to Lennox Hill Hospital for treatment following the unprovoked attack. The suspect, who fled the scene, is currently being sought by the police.
This incident is part of a troubling trend of assaults on elderly individuals in New York City. According to the NYPD, there have been 1,228 felony assaults against people aged 65 and older so far this year, double the number recorded in 2019. Of these cases, arrests have been made in 962 instances, as reported by a police spokesperson.
Authorities are working to address the rise in violence against vulnerable members of the community and ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
