Kamala Harris continues to push for the failed “bipartisan immigration bill” as a solution to the border crisis, but perhaps what the nation truly needs is a more proactive approach like the “Be Gone Act” introduced by Sen. Jodi Ernst. This act aims to expand the definition of “aggravated felony” to include sexual assault and aggravated sexual violence, making migrant sex offenders eligible for deportation.

Recent data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that a staggering 662,566 migrants with criminal backgrounds are currently in the country, including individuals convicted of murder, sexual assault, and other heinous crimes. This number only accounts for those that ICE is aware of, and with over 1.7 million “gotaways” and countless others who evade detection, the actual figure is likely much higher.

Progressive “sanctuary” laws have shielded these violent offenders from deportation, allowing them to continue committing crimes and posing a threat to both Americans and fellow migrants. The lack of communication between local law enforcement and federal agencies has enabled known criminals to evade consequences.

Ernst’s approach of preventing known threats from entering the country is crucial in addressing the issue. This strategy could be supplemented with additional resources for Border Patrol and ICE, as proposed in the bipartisan bill favored by Harris. However, it is essential to tighten the rules for granting asylum seeker status, rather than loosening them as suggested in Harris’ bill.

The surge in illegal migration under the current administration has coincided with a significant drop in the number of criminal migrants arrested and deported. This discrepancy underscores the need for a more effective immigration policy that prioritizes the safety and security of American communities.

While Harris, Biden, and others argue against enforcing immigration laws, releasing criminals into society under the guise of compassion is irresponsible. It is imperative for lawmakers to come together and craft a bipartisan bill that ensures the admission of legal migrants who can positively contribute to the nation.

In conclusion, the complexities of the border crisis demand a comprehensive and proactive approach that addresses the root causes of illegal migration and prioritizes public safety. By implementing policies that prevent known criminals from entering the country and strengthening enforcement measures, we can create a more secure and prosperous future for all.
