Netflix has recently unveiled an exciting lineup of Korean films set to premiere on the streaming platform in 2025, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to investing in Korean content. The diverse slate was announced at an event during the Busan International Film Festival, kicking off with Netflix’s “Uprising.”

One of the highly anticipated projects is “Good News” (working title), a 1970s thriller directed by acclaimed filmmaker Byun Sung-hyun. The movie, starring Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung-bum, revolves around a hijacked airplane and promises to deliver intense suspense and mystery.

In the realm of sci-fi disaster, “The Great Flood” presents a gripping survival story set on Earth’s final day. Directed by Kim Byung-woo and featuring Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo, the film follows their characters as they navigate a global deluge to save a child.

Netflix is also making a foray into Korean animated features with “Lost in Starlight,” a space romance directed by Han Ji-won. The movie, voiced by Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung, explores themes of love, family, and exploration as an astronaut embarks on a journey to Mars.

For a more youthful audience, “Love Untangled” directed by Namkoong Sun, transports viewers back to 1998, delving into themes of first love and friendship. The film stars Gong Myoung, Shin Eun-soo, Cha Woo-min, Youn Sang-hyun, and Kang Mi-na.

The action-packed “Mantis” (working title) expands on the world introduced in “Kill Boksoon,” following an assassin’s return to a tumultuous industry. Directed by Lee Tae-sung and co-written by Byun Sung-hyun, the film promises riveting action sequences and intricate character dynamics.

“Revelations,” a thriller by “Hellbound” collaborators Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, intertwines faith and crime. Starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-been, the movie follows a pastor and detective as they seek justice in a missing person case.

Lastly, “Wall to Wall” offers a suspenseful tale set in an apartment complex, directed by Kim Tae-joon. Kang Ha-neul leads the cast in a story of financial struggles and mysterious disturbances, with Yeom Hye-ran and Seo Hyun-woo adding depth to the narrative.

With an exciting array of Korean films on the horizon, Netflix continues to showcase its dedication to bringing diverse and captivating content to audiences worldwide. Stay tuned for these upcoming releases that promise to captivate and entertain viewers in 2025.
