Former President Trump expressed outrage on Friday over the indictment of James Comey, claiming the legal proceedings would be overseen by a judge appointed by “Crooked Joe Biden,” and asserting that the “dirty cop” must face a “severe consequence.”

Comey, aged 64, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Thursday for allegedly deceiving Congress in relation to the controversial Russiagate investigation, with the case assigned to District Judge Michael Nachmanoff, whom Biden appointed.

Trump expressed his view that “Corrupt James Comey” is undeniably guilty, claiming that his lie is straightforward but essential. “Whether you like him or not, HE LIED! It’s a simple truth but an important one,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The former president continued to argue that Comey, facing accusations of false statements during his congressional testimony on September 30, 2020, amid the Trump-Russia investigation, would be held accountable for his actions. Trump stated, “There’s no way he can talk himself out of this situation. He’s always been a dirty cop, and now he has a judge chosen by Crooked Joe Biden—talk about a disadvantage.”

According to Trump, Comey “left no room for error” in his response to a crucial question and believes he was caught off guard. “James ‘Dirty Cop’ Comey ruined countless lives. He was fully aware of the seriousness of his lies, and he must pay a significant price for it!”

The indictment against Comey stems from his interaction with Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), during which he denied authorizing any media leaks regarding the investigation.

Comey, who led the FBI from 2013 until his dismissal by Trump in 2017, was reportedly expected to turn himself in on Friday.

FBI Director Kash Patel addressed critics who alleged that the DOJ was targeting Comey due to Trump’s animosity towards him, stating, “Professional FBI agents and analysts conducted the investigation fairly and will continue to uphold that impartiality.”

Patel stated, “The exaggerated accusations against the FBI’s integrity stem from the same disreputable media that pushed the narrative of Russiagate; it highlights their hypocrisy. Our unwavering mission remains until the end.”

Amidst the unfolding developments, Comey expressed “deep sorrow” for the Justice Department but maintained his innocence. “We have known for years that standing up to Donald Trump has repercussions, but we wouldn’t choose to live any differently,” he asserted in a video message.

President Trump expressed his displeasure regarding Comey’s case being under a Biden-appointed judge.

Comey added, “I hold great faith in the judicial system and assert my innocence; I’m ready for trial and remain hopeful.”
