Former President Trump recently showcased the latest gold accents planned for the Oval Office in a peculiar social media update, claiming that world leaders “freak out” upon entering and seeing the gold embellishments.

“Some of the finest 24 Karat Gold is being used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House,” Trump shared on Truth Social on Sunday.

“Foreign Leaders and everyone else tend to ‘freak out’ when they see the quality and beauty. It’s the best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and appearance!!!” he concluded the post as “President DJT.”

In his post, Trump shared a muted video sweeping over an assortment of what appeared to be gold wall moldings that were ready to be installed in the White House.

The former president has recently praised the extravagant makeover he is giving to the White House, prompting some internet detectives to speculate that the decorators merely purchased inexpensive wall fixtures from Home Depot and spray-painted them gold.

“People have attempted to create a gold paint that mimics real gold, but it has never been successful,” Trump explained in an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham in March. “No one has been able to replicate gold with paint.”

However, internet users mocked Trump’s decorating team, suggesting they had attempted precisely that and called attention to apparent Home Depot listings for moldings strikingly similar to the gilded pieces now found in the White House.

The products from the hardware store were priced between $30 and $50, according to the Independent — significantly less than the cost of 24-karat gold.

The authenticity of those listings remains uncertain, as the items could not be found on Home Depot or the respective manufacturer’s website when The Post reviewed them recently.

It’s unclear if the former president shared the clip to refute the allegations, as he maintained that the decorations are made of “the highest quality 24 Karat Gold.”

Trump’s well-known affinity for gold has been widely recognized.

His lavish residences are embellished with gold, his private aircraft are gilded, and it is common for foreign dignitaries to gift him with golden presents. Decades of jokes have even circulated about him having gold toilets in his bathrooms.

This penchant for gold has followed him to Washington, D.C., becoming even more pronounced since his return in 2025.

New presidents typically bring their personal decorating styles to the White House, so Trump brought in his “gold expert” who designed Mar-a-Lago to apply his signature touch to the presidential residence, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

“It’s the Golden Office for the Golden Age,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt remarked to the Journal.
