If you have a passion for decorative arts, design history, or material culture, and you want to understand how studying objects can enhance your curatorial or scholarly pursuits, you’re invited to explore the open houses at Bard Graduate Center, located on our NYC campus. Here, you’ll have the chance to engage with our esteemed faculty, experience our vibrant community, and take advantage of our collaborations with renowned institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, and American Museum of Natural History.

During the open houses, you will have opportunities to engage with faculty members, learn about their research and teaching philosophies, connect with current students, explore our library facilities, and discover more about our acclaimed exhibitions. We will also provide information about financial aid and housing options. Notably, over 90% of our students benefit from housing assistance, with more than 65% residing in Bard Hall, our onsite apartment complex designed for students, faculty, and staff.

Upper New York with Focusing on Objects

At Bard Graduate Center, we delve into the human experience – both past and present – by examining their material manifestations. Our focus is on objects and artifacts, ranging from aesthetically treasured items to everyday life necessities. Our exhibitions, award-winning catalogues and publications, and innovative public engagements all play an essential role in our academic curriculum.
