Fans of “Doc” will be delighted to hear that Dr. Richard Miller is making a comeback. Scott Wolf will reprise his role in a multi-episode guest arc during Season 2, starting later this season, and he is also set to direct an episode in early 2026.
Co-showrunners and executive producers Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg shared their excitement in a statement: “We always knew when Richard got fired that this would not be the end of his story. However, no one anticipated his return to Westside Hospital in this manner—especially Amy.”
In the inaugural season, Wolf was featured in all 10 episodes as a series regular. His character faced a dramatic fallout in the season finale when a critical error during a code blue led to a patient’s death. This event caused him to point fingers at Amy (portrayed by Molly Parker) after her own unfortunate accident.
Discussing the complexities of his character, Parker told Variety, “One of the most tragic aspects of Richard’s storyline is that he made a genuine mistake in a scenario that ultimately led to a loss of life. It’s important to remember that he’s a doctor; mistakes can happen in this profession. These characters are all human. However, he’s deeply intimidated by Amy at the start and fears that her unforgiving nature would lead to his downfall.”
Following Wolf’s departure, Felicity Huffman joined the cast in Season 2 as a series regular, taking on the role of Dr. Joan Ridley. Dr. Ridley is Amy’s mentor from medical school and has now ascended to the position of Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital.
The series “Doc,” produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, features a talented ensemble cast that includes Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, Amirah Vann, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.
Season 1 of “Doc” is currently available for streaming on Netflix, while Season 2 airs on Fox and Fox One every Tuesday at 8 PM ET, with episodes available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
