Netflix has recently shared the first look images for its highly anticipated series, “The Abandons,” which is poised to make its debut on December 4.
This Western drama is set in the year 1854 and centers around two matriarchs from vastly different backgrounds. According to the show’s official description, “one family is steeped in wealth and privilege, while the other is a makeshift family of orphans and outcasts, united by love and necessity. Their lives become intertwined as they face two crimes, an unsettling secret, a tragic romantic connection, and a piece of land hiding precious silver beneath its surface.”
The narrative explores the clash between the affluent and the disadvantaged, set in a realm where justice is elusive. Created by Kurt Sutter, who also serves as an executive producer, the show’s production team includes Chris Keyser, Robert Askins, Stephen Surjik, Otto Bathurst, Emmy Grinwis, and Jon Paré.
The cast features an impressive lineup including Lena Headey, Gillian Anderson, Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lamar Johnson, Natalia del Riego, Lucas Till, Aisling Franciosi, Toby Hemingway, Michael Greyeyes, Ryan Hurst, Katelyn Wells, Clayton Cardenas, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, Brían F. In related news, Bloomberg Media has revealed the official trailer for its upcoming series, “An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet,” which will premiere on October 22.
The series is hosted by actor and climate advocate Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and focuses on inspiring individuals and communities that are propelling humanity towards a more sustainable future.
This six-part series will air on Wednesdays at 8 PM on Bloomberg Originals and will also be available on major streaming services such as Samsung TV+, Amazon Prime Video, and LG Channels. It will additionally be broadcast at 10 PM ET on Bloomberg TV and accessible on demand via Bloomberg.com and YouTube.
Coster-Waldau will take viewers on a journey from the Andes mountains to the Ganges River, through the Ecuadorian rainforest to Paris. The new season will highlight stories like Denmark’s efforts to rejuvenate coastal dead zones, India’s ambitious mangrove reforestation initiatives, and the perspectives of the Achuar people from Ecuador, who share their vision for a sustainable future.

Additionally, Plimsoll Prods. and Blumhouse Television announced the release of the official trailer for their new horror and natural history series, “Nightmares of Nature.”
Narrated by Maya Hawke, the series will debut its first batch of episodes on September 30, with a second batch set to launch on October 28. “Nightmares of Nature” showcases the real-life animal heroes battling the terrifying realities of the natural world.
Plimsoll Prods. CEO Grant Mansfield, who also serves as an executive producer, stated, “You’ve never seen a natural history show quite like this. Blending wildlife with horror creates some unique and highly entertaining experiences. Working in collaboration with Blumhouse Television on this project has been fantastic, and I believe this will be a genuine Halloween delight for audiences everywhere.”
