The recent incident of a man pushing an 82-year-old woman onto subway tracks in Queens has shocked the community. The suspect, Brandon Harris, 35, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and felony assault in connection with the attack. The victim, who was a complete stranger to Harris, was pushed onto the tracks while the train was in the station. She suffered a head injury and was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

Harris, who lives near the Flushing-Main Street No. 7 station where the incident occurred, has a history of prior arrests, including a misdemeanor assault in 2020. He was also arrested for public lewdness in 2019 and 2015, as well as robbery of a motor vehicle in 2015. This pattern of behavior raises concerns about his mental state and potential danger to the community.

In a separate incident, another man, Shadrach Ford, 30, pushed a 62-year-old woman onto subway tracks in Bushwick after she ignored his request for a lighter. Fortunately, bystanders intervened and pulled her to safety before any serious harm was done. Ford was also charged with attempted murder and other related offenses.

These random acts of violence in the subway system are alarming and highlight the need for increased security measures and mental health resources. The safety of passengers, especially vulnerable individuals like the elderly, must be a top priority for law enforcement and transit authorities. It is essential to address the root causes of such violent behavior and take proactive steps to prevent future incidents.
