A brand new documentary series in three parts featuring Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson from One Direction is on its way to Netflix.

The former members of the band are setting off on a spontaneous American road trip, which promises “reconnection, exploration, and plenty of laughter,” according to an official press announcement.

The series aims to provide a rare glimpse into the personal lives of two of the most reserved ex-One Direction stars. Throughout three episodes, Malik and Tomlinson will engage in heartfelt discussions covering themes of life, love, acceptance, and fatherhood. This follows the tragic passing of their fellow bandmate, Liam Payne, who passed away in October 2024 in Argentina at the young age of 31.

Nicola Marsh, known for her work on “Song Exploder” and “Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story,” is set to direct the show, which is produced by Campfire Studios, renowned for projects like “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish,” “Smartless: On the Road,” and “America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.”

Both artists have had a hectic year in their solo careers and are gearing up for an even busier 2026. Malik has recently announced a Las Vegas residency scheduled for January of the coming year. Meanwhile, Tomlinson is expected to follow the release of his third studio album, “How Did I Get Here?” (set for January 23) with a global arena tour planned to kick off next summer.

Reflecting on his upcoming album, Tomlinson shared, “I would describe it as ‘the record I always deserved to create.’ Honesty is my forte. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope that resonates through the music. I am continually learning and evolving as a singer and songwriter. Complacency is not something I can entertain; it’s simply not in my nature. For the first time, I’ve allowed myself to become the artist I’ve always aspired to be.”

Similarly, Malik wrapped up a successful tour earlier this year in support of his fourth solo album, “Room Under the Stairs.” He embarked on his inaugural headlining tour, “Stairway to the Sky,” last November, performing consecutively in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh. He later brought his tour to the United States, featuring shows in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, wrapping up his journey in Mexico City.

Payne tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony last year, with toxicology reports revealing elevated levels of alcohol and multiple substances in his system at the time of his untimely demise. The series is expected to include raw and personal conversations—the first of their kind—from the surviving bandmates about Payne’s passing.
