Jerusalem:

The Israeli military announced that they successfully dismantled a Hezbollah tunnel that breached into Israeli territory, as their forces conducted ground operations in southern Lebanon. Military spokesperson Daniel Hagari revealed in a televised briefing, “Tonight we reported that we located and dismantled a tunnel of about 25 meters long, which crossed the border fence about 10 meters into Israeli territory. We detected this a few months ago, investigated it covertly, and now we can confirm its dismantlement.”

Further information from the military stated that the tunnel originated from the Marwahin area in Lebanon and extended into Israeli territory near the Zarit community. During the operation, the army discovered weapons, explosive devices, and anti-tank missiles within the tunnel.

Hagari mentioned that Israeli troops are actively searching for additional tunnels along the entire border and in southern Lebanese villages to ensure no further threats exist. The military emphasized Hezbollah’s history of constructing underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon for hostile activities against Israeli forces and civilians.

Israel’s recent escalation against Hezbollah included airstrikes on their strongholds in Lebanon and Beirut, alongside a ground offensive in southern Lebanon. The army remains vigilant in dismantling any potential threats posed by Hezbollah’s network of tunnels.
