British royals excel at harnessing the elegance of a suit—characterized by bold silhouettes, subtle yet impactful colors and prints, and flawless tailoring. There’s a rich visual legacy of Princess Diana showcasing her fashion-forward suits. Kate Middleton—Catherine, Princess of Wales—continues to enhance her own collection of impeccably styled suits.
The Princess made an appearance on Thursday (October 2), visiting Lincolnshire at RAF Coningsby for her inaugural royal engagement at the station. Catherine assumed the title of Royal Honorary Air Commodore from Prince William in 2023 and holds several military appointments, including Colonel of the Irish Guards and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of the Air Cadets.
For the busy occasion, the Princess opted for an elegant look in Bella Freud’s Earl suit featuring a gray Prince of Wales check, which affectionately nods to her husband. She donned the same suit recently during a trip to the Marina Mill in Kent, proving her commitment to maximizing her wardrobe. Complementing her outfit, she wore a finely knitted gray Alexander McQueen sweater, a navy belt, and fashionable suede navy Gianvito Rossi pumps. Her jewelry included a Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, diamond and sapphire cluster earrings (a thoughtful gift from her husband), and her Royal Air Force wings brooch elegantly pinned to her lapel.
Catherine styled her (now lighter) hair into bouncy, brushed curls, arranged in her signature half-up, half-down do.
