Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck on the Staten Island Expressway, where a car collided with a concrete median and overturned, resulting in the deaths of three men in their 20s, according to authorities.
The vehicle, a red 2015 Chevrolet Cruz, was severely damaged upon impact, ending up in a nearby grassy ditch, which claimed the lives of the driver and two passengers, aged 25 and two who were both 26.
Authorities have not yet released the victims’ names as they await notification of their families.
At around 4:19 a.m., officers reported that the driver lost control close to the Victory Boulevard exit on the Staten Island Expressway.
Photos taken at the scene depict the vehicle’s doors entirely ripped off, with two sneakers lying in the grass nearby.
