A dog in Florida was rescued from a dangerous situation during Hurricane Milton on Wednesday morning, thanks to the efforts of the Florida Highway Patrol. The trooper approached the dog, who was stuck in chest-deep water next to a fence off the interstate, and reassured the scared animal as the rain fell.
The Highway Patrol shared a post from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles showing the rescued English bull terrier in the back of a vehicle, safe and receiving care. The dog had been seen by a vet and given a clean bill of health.
Highway Patrol officials told McClatchy News that the trooper who rescued the dog also volunteered to care for it. As Hurricane Milton continued to approach Florida’s Gulf Coast with rain, wind, and tornadoes, this heartwarming rescue story provided a moment of hope amidst the storm.
