It strikes one as rather reckless for MSNBC to grant airtime to Rob Reiner, whose conjectures appear more rooted in fantasy than in any semblance of reality. His vivid imaginings might provide entertainment value, but they hardly merit serious engagement.
FOX News laid out the claims:
In a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Velshi,” actor and director Rob Reiner warned that the United States is on the brink of entering a “full-on autocracy,” conjecturing that former President Donald Trump is poised to stage a coup during the upcoming election.
Reiner argued that the current political climate resembles the oppressive atmospheres seen during the McCarthy era, suggesting urgent action is required to preserve democratic norms. “Make no mistake; we have a year before this country becomes a full-on autocracy, and democracy completely leaves us,” he passionately stated. He asserted that Trump, aware of his impending defeat in a fair election, is fueling this crisis.
Specifically, he claimed, “The House will flip and become Democratic, and there will be committee chairs who can hold meetings—these are the last things he wants.” He added a rather disconcerting prediction regarding the upcoming elections: “Don’t be surprised when polling booths are surrounded by American military in the guise of ensuring fair elections.”
“We anticipate protests and potential violence; they will maintain control, leading to the commandeering of voting machines and ballot boxes in the name of election security,” Reiner forewarned, implying a direct threat to electoral integrity.

One cannot help but notice how host Ali Velshi nods in agreement, creating an echo chamber of leftist rhetoric—almost as if they inhabit a different reality altogether. It is, indeed, a peculiar spectacle of collective imagination.
