A man was targeted in a carjacking at gunpoint while returning to his vehicle in Lincoln Park on a Monday evening, as reported by law enforcement.
The incident took place around 9:13 PM in the 2500 block of North Halsted Street. According to police, a 23-year-old male had exited his 2023 Honda Civic, leaving it running, and noticed an unidentified man attempting to enter the car. The suspect brandished a firearm and pointed it at the victim before fleeing southbound on Halsted Street in the stolen vehicle.
Fortunately, no shots were fired nor were there any injuries reported in the incident.
Witnesses informed police that the assailant had arrived in a gray Volkswagen Tiguan. Subsequent investigations revealed that both the victim’s stolen Honda and the Tiguan continued to travel together across Chicago following the carjacking.
The victim described the carjacker as a Black male clad in all black clothing. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this crime.
