Twice the luck.
A resident of Connecticut, Shelley Suttles, hit the remarkable $1 million jackpot on scratch-off tickets, just months after winning another substantial amount from the same type of tickets.
On September 30, while running some errands at a nearby convenience store, Suttles decided to purchase an Ultimate 7s scratch-off ticket on a whim, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
The ticket rewarded him with the enormous top prize of a million dollars.
âI was in shock,â Suttles recounted to the CT Lottery. âWhen I revealed the box and saw it said a million dollars, I couldnât believe my eyes. I called my sister, and she just screamed in disbelief.â
Earlier in the summer, Suttles also won $100,000 playing the Cash5 lottery.
The chances of winning the $1 million Ultimate 7’s prize stand at 1 in 1,300,000, while the odds for claiming the $100,000 Cash5 prize are 1 in 324,632, according to the state lottery.
Winning any jackpot twice within a year is an exceptionally rare feat.
Suttles expressed that he intends to use his substantial winnings to settle some outstanding bills and contribute to his church.
The Grand Package Store, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive a $10,000 incentive for its service, as per the lottery authority.
In 2023, a man from Brooklyn also cashed in on a $10 million scratch-off win, slightly over a year after securing his first $10 million payout from the New York Lottery.
