Jay Cutler Returns to Take It Outside Podcast After Jail Sentence

Jay Cutler has made his way back to the mic for his “Take It Outside” podcast after completing a jail sentence related to a DUI arrest in 2024.

During the October 7 episode, Cutler, who is 52, returned alongside his cohost and former Navy SEAL Sam Mackey. The episode marked Cutler’s first appearance after a two-week hiatus where Mackey took on the hosting duties alone. Featured guests included Cody Cannon, the frontman for Whiskey Myers, and guitarist John Jeffers.

Cutler chose not to discuss his recent absence during the episode.

His return follows a guilty plea to a misdemeanor DUI charge back in August. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors decided to drop three additional charges, which stemmed from his October 2024 arrest, including gun possession while intoxicated and failing to adhere to implied consent laws.

A judge imposed a four-day jail sentence on Cutler, which included a $350 fine, mandatory DUI classes, and a period of license suspension.

According to multiple reports on September 29, Cutler checked into Williamson County Jail in Tennessee to fulfill his sentence, with plans for release on October 3. Yet, TMZ disclosed on October 2 that he had been granted early release the night prior.

The reason behind Cutler’s early release remains unclear, with Us Weekly reaching out for verification from jail officials.

Following his release, Cutler is required to complete a year of probation.

In October 2024, Cutler was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, after rear-ending another vehicle while driving. Police reported that they detected a noticeable alcohol smell during their interaction with Cutler at the scene. (The other driver filed a lawsuit against him in September, as revealed by Us.)

According to the police release, “Cutler was observed to be slurring his words and exhibiting bloodshot eyes.” Moreover, he declined field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw under a search warrant.

Additionally, two firearms were discovered in his vehicle, including “a loaded handgun.”

Cutler was held in Williamson County Jail for several hours before being released on a $5,000 bond.

His ex-wife, Kristin Cavallari, with whom he co-parents children Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9, commented on his arrest during an episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast at the time.

“I’m not going to discuss what happened,” she clarified. “I genuinely wish Jay all the best and hope he finds the help necessary. But that’s the only comment I’ll make publicly.”

Cavallari, age 38, who was married to Cutler from 2013 until their divorce in 2022, has exchanged remarks with him effectively through podcasts. Notably, she recently expressed that she has “never received a dime” from Cutler and “didn’t get a cent” following their divorce.

Cutler refuted Cavallari’s claims, labeling them “reckless” and “borderline slander,” asserting that they misrepresent the financial arrangements made during their marriage. He rebuffed the claims, pointing out that he possesses a detailed divorce decree outlining the settlement.

Earlier in June, Cutler shared insights with Us about his co-parenting relationship with Cavallari, mentioning, “The kids manage it well. We have a schedule that suits us both.”
