The latest trailer for Rachel Sennott’s upcoming HBO series titled “I Love LA” has just been released, revealing intriguing details about the show.
In the newly unveiled footage, we meet Sennott as Maia, who works at a talent management firm and is eagerly pursuing a promotion to junior manager. However, her plans are interrupted when her former friend and influencer Tallulah (Odessa A’zion) unexpectedly resurfaces in her life.
“Luck is just when preparation meets opportunity. Hustle until your idols become your rivals,” Maia tells herself in front of a mirror, just moments before a scene shows her disappointment at being denied the promotion. After work, she shares her frustrations with her boyfriend Dylan (Josh Hutcherson), but their conversation is cut short when Tallulah bursts in, clad only in a towel and exclaiming, “Surprise, you little bitch!” Maia’s reaction is less than thrilled.
As Tallulah comments on the familiarity of Maia’s apartment, Maia reveals that it was supposed to be the one they shared before going their separate ways. Tallulah’s shock and sarcasm, “And you’re still here?” adds tension, showcasing an underlying offense taken by Maia. Later, she confidently asserts to her friends Alani (True Whittaker) and Charlie (Jordan Firstman), “I made her successful. I can do it for other bitches.”
Despite the tension, Maia and Tallulah find themselves reconnecting, indulging in parties, and mingling with Los Angeles’s eclectic personalities. This renewed friendship starts to create friction in Maia’s relationship with Dylan, who observes, “Those kinds of people have this, like, endless ambition. They want success and money and a nice house and all these things.” As the trailer progresses, he confronts Maia about how different she’s become since Tallulah’s arrival, asking, “Do you realize that you are so different ever since Tallulah got here?”
Mark your calendars: “I Love LA” is set to premiere on November 2, with weekly episodes culminating in the season finale on December 21. Sennott serves as an executive producer alongside Emma Barrie, Aida Rodgers, Max Silvestri, and Lorene Scafaria. The series is co-directed by Sennott, Scafaria, Bill Benz, and Kevin Bray, and stars a remarkable ensemble including Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Quenlin Blackwell, Josh Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Colin Woodell, and Tim Baltz.
