Allison Rawlings, a former communications executive at NBCUniversal, is set to join Disney Entertainment as the new head of FX’s publicity and communications team.

Rawlings will succeed John Solberg, who has been the face of FX publicity for nearly three decades and announced his retirement in June. In her new role, she will be under the guidance of FX chairman John Landgraf, while also having a dotted line report to Naomi Bulochnikov, who is the executive vice president of communications for Disney Entertainment Television & Direct-to-Consumer.

“FX has built its communications strategy on a fundamental support for the artists affiliated with our brand and a deep respect for journalists covering our industry,” Landgraf stated. “With Allison leading our publicity and communications efforts, we are embracing a respected leader whose creativity, experience, and enthusiasm will strengthen and enhance FX’s mission and the integrity with which we uphold it.”

Landgraf and FX shared the news of Rawlings’ appointment on Wednesday. According to the announcement, her responsibilities will encompass the overall strategic vision and direction for the network’s publicity, communications, and creative services. This includes overseeing talent relations, award events, and photo publicity, as well as managing consumer publicity campaigns for FX originals available on Hulu, Disney+, and on the FX and FXX cable networks.

“FX has consistently represented outstanding entertainment,” Rawlings expressed. “Having admired them from a distance for many years, it’s an honor and a delight to become part of this remarkable team.”

Joining NBCUniversal in 2016, Rawlings served as executive vice president of communications for TV and streaming before her recent departure. She was responsible for shaping the communications strategy across NBC, Peacock, and six cable networks, including leading her team through the repositioning of Peacock during the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics. After a corporate restructuring that transferred her communications duties to New York, she departed in March.

Before her tenure at NBCUniversal, Rawlings was the head of public relations at DreamWorks Animation, where she developed the company’s inaugural integrated communications strategy and directed publicity for acclaimed films such as “The Croods” and “How to Train Your Dragon 2.” She was also a key player in launching DreamWorks Animation Television in 2013.

Earlier in her career, Rawlings dedicated her efforts to nonprofit arts organizations, taking on roles like head of communications for the Geffen Playhouse, brand strategist for Center Theatre Group, and publicist for the Hollywood Bowl. While part of the LA Philharmonic press team, she contributed to the grand opening of Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003.
