Accio, images of Dumbledore! HBO is in the works with its “Harry Potter” series … and we are thrilled to present a first look at John Lithgow outfitted in full regalia.
The 79-year-old Emmy recipient appears remarkably transformed as the esteemed headmaster of Hogwarts, fully immersing himself in the character. This level of dedication should reassure fans who might have been anxious about an American portraying the beloved professor … John faces the daunting challenge of stepping into the extraordinary roles previously held by the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon.
Following his casting announcement, John proactively addressed the expected critique regarding his selection … stating, “I will be succeeding the great Michael Gambon. I may not be English, but I’ve portrayed one on screen. Let’s not forget I played Winston Churchill in ‘The Crown’ and did quite well.”

The young spellcaster truly embodies his character in round glasses and a Hogwarts robe.
