The highly anticipated Season 4 of “Monster,” the acclaimed crime anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, has officially begun production in Los Angeles, shortly after the release of Season 3 on Netflix.

Season 4 features Ella Beatty in the pivotal role of Lizzie Borden, notorious for her alleged involvement in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Massachusetts. Although she was ultimately acquitted, the case captured the imagination of the public and continues to be a source of intrigue today.

The cast also includes Charlie Hunnam, reprising his role as Lizzie’s father, Andrew Jackson Borden, after leading Season 3 as Ed Gein; Rebecca Hall as Lizzie’s stepmother Abby; Billie Lourd as Lizzie’s sister, Emma Borden; Jessica Barden as the actress Nance O’Neill, a friend of Lizzie; and Vicky Krieps portraying the family’s maid, Bridget Sullivan.

First premiering in 2022, “Monster” launched with “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” featuring Evan Peters as the infamous serial killer. This season achieved a staggering 115.6 million views within its first 91 days and ranks as Netflix’s No. 4 all-time most popular English-language series. Peters received both a Golden Globe and an Emmy nomination for his performance, while Niecy Nash-Betts, who portrayed Dahmer’s neighbor Glenda, was also nominated for a Golden Globe and secured an Emmy win. Season 2, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” starring Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch, premiered in 2024 with Koch, Chloë Sevigny, and Javier Bardem earning Emmy nominations for their performances. Most recently, Season 3, “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” debuted on Friday and recorded 12.2 million views in just three days of availability.
