Lisa Agnetun, a ceramicist based in Gothenburg, has created a whimsical world of ceramic ghosts that are anything but spooky. These tiny specters take on the appearance of various creatures, from walruses and octopi to blocks of cheese with mice. Each ghost is meticulously handcrafted by Agnetun, who refers to her hometown as Ghostenburg, adding to the charm and mystery of her creations.

In pairs or groups of three, these adorable figures don elaborate outfits and role play as different mammals, sea creatures, and even snacks. The attention to detail in each sculpture is evident, with Agnetun experimenting with various ceramic techniques, from handbuilding to mixing different glazes. The result is a collection of unique and charming ghosts that seem to come to life in the hands of the artist.

While ghosts are often associated with Halloween, Agnetun emphasizes that her spirits are not confined to the autumn holiday. “My ghosts are not for Halloween,” she explains. “They are for life.” Each ghost is a testament to Agnetun’s love for clay and the creative process. She finds joy in transforming inorganic, lifeless material into tangible, soulful creations that are both unique and alike, much like people.

Agnetun is currently preparing for an exhibition next summer and updates her Etsy shop every month. Fans can keep up with her latest creations and announcements on her website and Instagram. Whether posing as walruses, sloths, hedgehogs, or even apples with tiny worms, Agnetun’s ceramic ghosts are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face with their playful and imaginative designs.
