Honor Magic 8: Overview

  • Anticipation of four flagship smartphones
  • Launch date confirmed for 15 October
  • Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
  • Features a dedicated AI button

Honor, a rising name in the premium smartphone segment, is gaining traction as a key competitor.

With outstanding models like the Honor Magic 7 Pro and Honor Magic V5, they’ve established themselves as serious contenders against the likes of Samsung and Google, often providing impressive specs that exceed those of their competitors.

The forthcoming Honor Magic 8 series is particularly exciting, geared to be the company’s comprehensive and remarkable flagship lineup yet.

Below is a summary of what we know about the Honor Magic 8 smartphone series thus far.

Release Date for the Honor Magic 8 Series

Summary of Release

  • Official announcement scheduled for 15 October
  • Chinese market release expected later in the month
  • Global availability might not come until early 2026

Honor has announced that the Honor Magic 8 smartphone series will be revealed on 15 October.

On Weibo, the company shared (via translation): “The Honor Magic8 series and #MagicOS10# launch event is set for October 15th!”

Looking at previous releases, the Honor Magic 7 and Honor Magic 7 Pro were announced on 30 October 2024 with a China release on 8 November. We could see a similar quick rollout for the Honor Magic 8 later this month.

The standard Honor Magic 7 was not made available in Western markets, and the Honor Magic 7 Pro only reached global audiences in January of this year. Those in the UK may have to wait until early 2026 to try these devices, with the US market likely missing out entirely.

Initially, we expect to see both the Honor Magic 8 and Honor Magic 8 Pro at the October 15 event in China, with potential introductions of an ultra-premium Honor Magic 8 Ultra and a compact Honor Magic 8 Mini possibly in 2026.

What will be the cost of the Honor Magic 8 Series?

The pricing for the Magic 8 series has yet to be announced, but we can speculate based on previous models.

The Magic 7 Pro launched at £1,099.99 in the UK, while the RSR Porsche Edition was priced at €1,799 (approximately £1,514.61). Given Honor’s focus on premium flagship offerings, it is logical to anticipate that the Magic 8 Pro will be similarly priced or slightly above, possibly reaching £1,200 for the entry-level variant.

The standard Magic 8 could be priced around £900-£1,000, while any Porsche Design variant would likely exceed £1,500. Should a Magic 8 Pro Mini variant be released, it might provide a more budget-friendly option, possibly below £900.

Specifications and Features for the Honor Magic 8 Series

Here’s what we expect regarding the specifications of the Honor Magic 8 series:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor
  • 6.71-inch (Pro) or 6.78-inch OLED display
  • 200MP primary sensor across the lineup
  • 200MP telephoto lens available in the Pro model
  • 120W (Pro) or 90W wired charging capabilities
  • Dedicated AI button
  • New Sky Blue Gaze color option

Additionally, it was confirmed that the Honor Magic 8 will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which has already been benchmarked on Geekbench and AnTuTu, highlighting the significant role of on-device AI in this series.

Images provided by Honor have showcased the new dedicated AI button that resides in a similar location to Apple’s Camera Control.

Additionally, Honor plans to introduce a feature called Magic Color, utilizing AI to transfer color palettes from images to different photos and videos.

Reports from PhoneArena suggest that the regular Honor Magic 8 will feature a 6.78-inch OLED screen, while the Magic 8 Pro will come with a slightly smaller 6.71-inch OLED.

Battery specifications indicate that the standard Magic 8 will house a robust 7000mAh battery, while the Pro may carry a 7200mAh capacity. The Magic 8 will support 90W wired charging with no wireless option, while the Pro will have 120W wired and 80W wireless charging.
