Calls for North Carolina Democrat State Rep. Cecil Brockman to resign are intensifying following his arrest on multiple charges related to child sexual offenses.
According to court documents, Brockman faces serious allegations of statutory rape involving a minor between the ages of 13 and 15.
It has been reported that he allegedly leveraged his position as a legislator to acquire sensitive information about the victim’s whereabouts while at a hospital.
“The allegations surrounding Rep. Brockman are extremely grave and, if substantiated, would render him unfit for public office,” stated Robert Reives, the Democrat Leader of the North Carolina State House.
Brockman is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.

A member of the North Carolina State House, representing Guilford County, has been arrested and charged with multiple sexual offenses.
As per the court records, Cecil Antonio Brockman, a 41-year-old Democrat serving District 60 in Guilford County, was arrested on Wednesday for two counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of statutory rape involving a person aged 13-15.
According to warrants, in August, Brockman is alleged to have “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did commit and attempt to commit lewd and lascivious acts” against a 15-year-old victim.
In a twist of irony, Brockman has previously opposed the “Parents’ Bill of Rights,” a legislative proposal aimed at ensuring parents are informed about their child’s mental health status.
